Group Synchronization
Configure the agent to synchronize a number of files as a group. Group synchronization is useful for situations in which a single transaction can affect several files—for example, when working with a database. To preserve transactional integrity (a transaction is a set of procedures used to preserve database integrity), the agent does the following:
- The agent applies the Write Inactivity Period to all the files in a group simultaneously. Only when all the files in the group have been inactive for this period does the agent synchronize the group, allowing the backup client to start copying the files.
- When all the files have been backed up, the agent releases the group and discards any preview data.
