In order to query and advertise, Discovery needs the list of network targets to broadcast. For example, the user might want to discover Arcserve Backup products in only one IP Subnet on a TCP/IP enabled network, or in a list of Subnets located physically in the same country.
Another scenario might have a user enumerating the entire corporate network in order to find all possible Subnets and then filtering some of them out.
This process runs in the background. It enumerates a Windows network's resources and creates a list of Windows domains for subsequent Mailslot broadcasting and/or listing of IP Subnets for UDP broadcasting.
Note: This process may take some time, depending on the size of your network. Because of this, it is recommended that the IP Subnets/Windows Domains Discovery be run during a time of minimum network traffic.
