Backup Options

You can use the agent to back up entire databases or their transaction logs. When you initiate a backup, the agent backs up:

• Only the transaction logs if you select the Backup Transaction Log option.
• Only the database if you select the Backup Database option.

Important! If the Sybase Adaptive Server is online, avoid backing up the physical database and log files using Arcserve Backup without the agent. The backed up image of the database file can be inconsistent. If you attempt to restore from such a backup image when the database is loaded, you can corrupt the database.
