General Guidelines SQL 2005

The following are general guidelines for backup and restore operations involving Microsoft SQL 2005 databases:

• Microsoft SQL databases backed up using VSS must be restored using VSS and the SQL Server Writer.
• All databases must be offline or detached before a restore job starts.
