Manage Devices Controlled by the Removable Storage Manager

The Removable Storage Manager (RSM) takes exclusive control of media libraries using the library drivers and takes shared control of the media drives. If you allow a device to be controlled by RSM, you cannot benefit from Arcserve Backup features.

For Arcserve Backup to use this device, the device must be disabled from RSM using the Arcserve Backup Device Configuration utility:

1. Select Enable/Disable devices (for RSM), and click Next.
2. Select the devices you want Arcserve Backup to manage from the list.

Note: This feature is only available for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
