Specify the VM Location

Specify the location of the virtual machine where you want to create the Instant VM. You can specify VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix hypervisor.

Note: The Nutanix hypervisor is displayed in the Hypervisor drop-down list only for the Linux sources.

Follow these steps:

  1. From the Hypervisor drop-down list, select the hypervisor type.
  2. For VMware vSphere, do the following:
    1. From the Hypervisor drop-down list, select vCenter or ESXi as the hypervisor type.
    2. If you have already added a VMware source to the selected Site in the Console, select the location from the list of hosts.
    3. Note: If you have not already added a VMware source in the Console, you must add the VMware hypervisor. For more information, see Add a Hypervisor.

    Microsoft Hyper-V

    Note: To perform IVM on a Hyper-V server, you must install Arcserve UDP agent on a selected Hyper-V server.

    1. From the Hypervisor drop-down list, select Hyper-V.
    2. If you have already added a Hyper-V source to the selected Site in the Console, select the location from the list of hosts.
    3. Note: If you have not already added a Hyper-V source in the Console, you must add the Hyper-V hypervisor. For more information, see Add a Hypervisor.
  3. Click Next.

    4. The Recovery Server page opens.
