This section describes about the two modes of data reduction.
Incremental Forever
In Incremental Forever mode of data reduction, data is initially reduced by Incremental Backup technology with the help of Block Changing Driver. Then the data is reduced by Deduplication technology and further reduced with the help of Compression technology.
Full Always
In Full Always mode of data reduction, Incremental Backup technology is disabled. Data is initially reduced using Deduplication technology and reduced further using compression technology. In this method, the unchanged data that is not filtered by Incremental Backup technology (disabled) is completely removed using the Deduplication technology. As a result the required storage space does not increase even when the Incremental Backup technology is disabled.
