How to Upgrade Arcserve UDP from v5 to v6 on the Appliance

When upgrading Arcserve Unified Data Protection v5 to v6, you are required to complete the appliance settings using the Appliance Configuration wizard before the installation, otherwise the following message appears:

You can upgrade Arcserve UDP for the following scenarios:

• If you are going to use the Arcserve UDP Appliance to function as the UDP Console,then follow the Appliance Configuration wizard step by step to complete the UDP Appliance settings. Or click Cancel to skip the settings and open the UDP console directly. Then you can upgrade Arcserve UDP by running the installation of UDP v6 on the appliance.
• If you are going to use the Arcserve UDP Appliance to function as the UDP RPS from an existing UDP v6 console (for example, Console-1), then perform the following steps to add the UDP Appliance as an RPS:
  1. Click Cancel from step 1 of the Appliance Configuration wizard which opens the UDP console on the UDP Appliance.
  2. From the Appliance, run the UDP v6 installation to upgrade the UDP Appliance to v6.
  3. Open Console-1 from the browser and add the Appliance as RPS.
• If you are going to use the Arcserve UDP Appliance to function as a UDP RPS from an existing UDP v5 console, then follow the Appliance Configuration wizard step by step to complete the UDP Appliance settings. Or click Cancel to skip the settings and open the UDP console directly.
