VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) 6.0.1 is built-in with Arcserve UDP Version 6.0. At the same time, Arcserve UDP Version 6.0 is compatible with VDDK 5.5.5.
If you want to use VDDK 5.5.5 instead of VDDK 6.0.1, follow these steps:
<Arcserve UDP installation path>\Engine\BIN\VDDK\BIN\VDDK64
For example, C:\Program Files\Arcserve\Unified Data Protection\Engine\BIN\VDDK\BIN\VDDK64
Note: Only VDDK 6.0.1 and 5.5.5 are certified by Arcserve on top of Arcserve UDP Version 6.0. Other versions of VDDK are not guaranteed to work with Arcserve UDP Version 6.0.
If you want to perform Virtual Standby or Instant VM after applying different version of VDDK, follow these steps:
sc query vstor2-mntapi20-shared
Note: If the state of service is running, go to Step 2. If the specified service does not exist, go to Step 5 directly.
sc stop vstor2-mntapi20-shared
sc delete vstor2-mntapi20-shared
sc query vstor2-mntapi20-shared
Note: If the state of service is STOP_PENDING, restart the machine.
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers
<INSTALLDIR>\Engine\BIN
ArcDrvInstall.exe -i "INSTALLDIR\Engine\BIN\VDDK\BIN\VDDK64\bin\AMD64\vstor2-mntapi20-shared.sys" -l <log file path> -p <product id>
Example: ArcDrvInstall.exe -i "C:\Program Files\Arcserve\Unified Data Protection\Engine\BIN\VDDK\BIN\VDDK64\bin\AMD64\vstor2-mntapi20-shared.sys" -l log.txt -p 2
