Library Configuration Tasks

Configuring the logical library tape volumes is an integral and important part of the option installation process. Configure the library by performing the following tasks:

• Assign tape volumes to the Arcserve Backup server.
• Use the Quick Inventory option of the Arcserve Backup Device Manager and take an inventory of the device.

Configuring your tape volumes consists of assigning tape volumes to create the logical library on the Arcserve Backup server. Review your tape volumes assignment plan before you assign the tape volumes.

You will not assign any cleaning tape volumes as part of your tape volume configuration. Tape cleaning is managed exclusively by Enterprise Tape Library 3494. As a result, the cleaning slot designation is not applicable for any backup servers connected to the Enterprise Tape Library 3494. On the Arcserve Backup server, the cleaning slot information is always <None>.

Note: You can access the tape cleaning schedule by using the Enterprise Tape Library 3494 control console.
