Detect Tape Volume Updates

After the initial library configuration, you can add or remove tape volumes. Before you can use tape volumes in the tape library for a logical library (for Enterprise Tape Library 3494) or a virtual library (for StorageTek ACSLS) on the CA ARCserve Backup server, you must perform the following tasks:

• Physically add tape volumes to, and remove tape volumes from, the tape library.
• Update tape volume configuration.
• Take and inventory of the device to update the CA ARCserve Backup server with the changes made to the tape volume configurations.

Note: You can use the CA ARCserve Backup Device Manager to view the existing tape volume assignments before adding or removing tape volumes.

Importing and exporting of tape volumes from CA ARCserve Backup is not supported with these options. Perform physical import and export of tape volumes using the tape library.
