Add Tape Library Devices of NAS

To add tape library devices to your Arcserve Backup environment, perform the following procedure:

  1. Start Device Configuration.
  2. From the Options section, select the NAS Servers option button and click Next.
  3. If you have already added a NAS Server, select the server to which you want to add the device in the NAS Server Configuration section, click the Add unfold button, and select Tape/Changer Device.

If you have not added any NAS Servers, click the Add unfold button and select NAS Server, and enter the required information. For instructions on how to add this information, see the Adding NAS Servers topic.

  4. Click the text next to the New Tape Device folder and give the new device the proper name.

Note: When assigning tape devices to a NAS server, make sure that you only specify "no rewind" devices. If you have a Network Appliance server, to find out if a device is a "no rewind" device, issue a sysconfig -t command on the server, either via a telnet session, or from the URL: http://NAShostname/na_admin (Filer -> Command line section).

There are several valid "no rewind devices" based on the tape format users want to specify. If one is not specifically specified, Arcserve Backup will automatically configure, but it may not be at the desired or expected format.

  5. Clear the Continue to Configure Your Libraries check box.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Restart the Tape Engine.
