Arcserve D2D Backup Jobs Fail When Submitted from the Backup Manager

Valid on Windows Platforms.

Symptom

When you submit Arcserve D2D backups from the Backup Manager, the jobs fail when the source data includes Arcserve D2D sessions that were backed up previously by Arcserve Backup. Error message AW0813 appears in the Activity Log.

Solution

This is expected behavior. If a backup job consists of Arcserve D2D sessions that were backed up previously, Arcserve Backup fails the job and reports error message AW0813 in the Activity Log. This behavior is designed to help prevent backing up Arcserve D2D data redundantly.

If you want to modify this behavior to allow Arcserve Backup to back up Arcserve D2D sessions that were backed up previously, do the following:

  1. From the Arcserve D2D server (node) that you are backing up, open Windows Registry Editor.
  2. Open the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\ClientAgent\Parameters\AllowRedundantD2DBackups

  3. Change the DWORD value of AllowRedundantD2DBackups to 1.

Note: If the above-described Registry key is not present on the node that you are backing up, you must create the key.

  4. Close Windows Registry Editor.
