Smart Restore

Arcserve Backup provides a transparent Smart Restore feature that can increase the overall success rate of your restore operations. If a media read error or a hardware error occurs during a restore job, Arcserve Backup searches for an alternate media to use to complete the restore job.

Example: Smart Restore

During a restore job, the restore source media jams and disables the library. Arcserve Backup then searches for duplicates of the backup session. If a duplicate of the session exists, regardless of whether it exists on a file system device or another media, the restore operation continues without user intervention.

Note: If a second media error occurs during the restore job, the job will fail.
