Installation Prerequisites
Before installing the agent on SharePoint Server systems, you must satisfy the following prerequisites:
- Verify that your system meets the minimum requirements needed to install the Agent for Microsoft SharePoint Server. For a list of requirements, see Readme.
- Ensure that you have administrator privileges or the proper authority to install software on the computers where you will be installing the product.
- The user name entered in the Agent for Microsoft SharePoint Server Configuration wizard must have administrative access to all machines in the SharePoint Server farm.
- Ensure that you are aware of the account which belongs to the Microsoft SharePoint Server farm administrator group.
- Verify that you have installed Microsoft SharePoint Server products or Microsoft SharePoint Service 3.0 or later.
- You must install the Agent for Microsoft SharePoint Server on the same system on which the farm was originally created and ensure that the central administration is running, or the backup and restore jobs might fail.
Note: You do not need to install the Arcserve Backup Agent for Open Files on the Microsoft SharePoint servers that you are protecting. The Agent for Open Files is beneficial when you want to protect files that are open or in use by active applications. Because the Agent for Microsoft SharePoint Server is an application-specific agent that is dedicated to protecting Lotus Domino servers, it offers a complete solution that encompasses all the features offered by the Agent for Open Files.
