Network Scan Takes Too Long

Network Scan Takes Too Long

Symptom

The agent takes an extremely long time to scan the Microsoft network.

Solution

This can happen if the files you are copying are held locally in a cache on your workstation.

Note: This is the cache used by the network client software, and is not related to local disk caching, for example, by SMARTDRIVE. In these circumstances, the agent, on the server, never sees you access the files on your workstation, and cannot tell when to close the group.

You can prevent this from happening if you ensure that you only access the files once. This forces the workstation to get the file data from the server, allowing the agent to function properly. If you were to access the files a second time, there is a good chance that the data would be obtained from the cache.
