When using workstation as a backup client to copy files, groups do not always close

Symptom

This can happen if the files you are copying are held locally in a cache on your workstation. In these circumstances, the agent on the server does not know when you access the files on your workstation and cannot tell when to close the group.

Note: This is a cache used by the network client software and is not related to local disk caching (for example, the kind of caching done by SMARTDRIVE).

Solution

To prevent this from happening, ensure that you only access the files once. This forces the workstation to get the file data from the server, allowing the agent to function properly. If you were to access the files a second time, there is a good chance that the data will be obtained from the cache.
