Update the Agent Account Configuration

To update the Agent for Microsoft SQL Server Account Configuration

1. From the Start menu, start the Microsoft SQL Agent Account Configuration utility. The Account Configuration dialog opens.
2. Locate the Microsoft SQL Server instance you modified in the first part of the process. For more information, see Check or Change the Microsoft SQL Server Authentication Method.
3. Use the following criteria to select either Microsoft SQL authentication or Windows authentication:
   • If you have set Microsoft SQL Server for Windows Only, select Windows authentication.
   • If you have selected Mixed Mode and want to be able to back up Microsoft SQL Server using only Microsoft SQL Server native users, select Microsoft SQL authentication.
   • If you have selected Mixed Mode and want to be able to back up Microsoft SQL using either Windows or Microsoft SQL Server users, select Windows authentication.
4. If you have selected Microsoft SQL authentication, enter the user name and password for a Microsoft SQL Server native user with system administrator privileges.
5. If Microsoft SQL Server is running in a cluster environment, verify that the cluster-related information is correct.
6. Click Finish to apply the changes.
