How does Alert work with Application?

Alert does not generate its own messages. Messages are generated by the application and sent to Alert. For example, eTrust Antivirus generates warning messages whenever a virus is detected. These warning messages are passed to Alert, which sends the notification. Similarly, Arcserve Backup generates a message when a backup job is completed.

Alerts can be sent via:

Broadcasts

Alert broadcasts can be sent to specific network machines or network domains.

Pager

Email
