Prepare the Distributed Group for Protecting SharePoint Farm

A distributed group is a SharePoint Server farm with several servers where multiple scenarios are created to protect them. These scenarios must be centrally managed as single logical unit, as they are part of the same farm. Unlike the default group and the regular group, the distributed group has central management functionalities. Some of the central management functionalities include:

• Group Run/Stop: You can start/stop all the scenarios in the group together.
• Group Switchover: You can initiate manual switchover on all the scenarios once, and configure them to be switched over together automatically in case any of them is failed.
• Group Recover Active Server: You can resolve the split-farm problem (some SharePoint server Masters are active while other Replicas are active). It can easily recover active servers of all scenarios to either Master or Replica.
