The StorageTek ACSLS tape library control software consists of the ACSLS Manager and the ACSLS Client applications.
Note: In addition to supporting communication interfaces with StorageTek ACSLS tape libraries managed by the StorageTek ACSLS tape library control software, the Enterprise Option for StorageTek ACSLS also supports communication with StorageTek tape libraries managed by StorageTek Library Station control software.
The following StorageTek ACSLS communication interface software components are installed on the same computer as the Enterprise Option for StorageTek ACSLS:
Translates and routes messages between the ACSLS Manager and the Arcserve Backup server.
Requests the movement of the tape volumes by sending requests to the Network Interface. It translates the library requests from the Arcserve Backup server into a format that can be interpreted by the ACSLS Manager software on the StorageTek ACSLS server.
Handles the task of creating message packets for transfer across the network. The message packets consist of an address header, the actual data, and parity information. The parity information in the packet can be used for error correction.
