Update Volume Configuration

You can update your volume configuration with changes to tape volumes on the tape library. After any changes to the tape volumes on the tape library, use the Volume Configuration option to change your tape volume configuration, and then use the Arcserve Backup Device Manager to take an inventory of the device.

Note: The import and export of tape volumes using the option is not supported.

To update the tape volume configuration

  1. Log on with administrator privileges to Arcserve Backup on the computer running the option.
  2. Click Start, Programs, Arcserve, ARCserve Backup, Enterprise Module Configuration.

    The Configure Enterprise Module window appears.

  3. Click Enterprise Tape Library 3494 or StorageTek ACSLS.

    The Volume Configuration welcome dialog opens.

  4. Click Next.

    A message appears to show that the Tape Engine service will be stopped. Click Yes to continue.

  5. Click Next to continue the volume configuration.

    The Volume Configuration dialog opens to show the current tape volume configuration; assigned tape volumes are followed by unassigned tape volumes.

  6. Select one or more tape volumes that you want to assign to the logical library.

    Note: Press and hold the Ctrl key to select multiple tape volumes.

  7. Right-click the selected tape volumes, and select Assign.

  8. Click Next.

    A message appears to remind you to take an inventory for slots in the tape library affected by tape volume assignment changes.

  9. Click OK to close the message.

    The Volume Configuration Completed message appears.

  10. Click Exit.
  11. Click Yes to confirm the exit.
  12. Use Arcserve Backup to take an inventory of the device.
